-.1. Public Hearing for RFQ/RFP No. 1213-18/19 SoCalREN - LED Lighting Retrofit
Rationale:

In accordance with provisions of the Government Code 4217.10 and 4217.13, the Board of Education of the Alhambra Unified School District will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, on Request for Qualifications/Request for Proposals No. 1213-18/19 SoCalREN – LED Lighting Retrofit.

During the public hearing the Board shall take testimony from the public. 

In compliance with Government Code 4217.10 and 4217.13, announcement of public hearing was advertised in the Pasadena Star-News on February 26, 2019, through the California Newspaper Service Bureau, Inc.  RFQ/RFP No. 1213-18/19 has been available for public view in the District’s Purchasing Department.

Background:
On January 23, 2019 the District began accepting bid submissions for Lighting Retrofit for (9) sites.  Bids were due on February 19, 2019 upon which the District scored and awarded based on best value criteria.

Rationale:

On October 9, 2018 the Board of Education of the Alhambra Unified School District accepted the request made by the West San Gabriel Valley Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) to terminate its lease of the property located at 15 West Alhambra Road, Alhambra, CA 91801 effective March 20, 2019. SELPA has requested to amend the lease termination date to be June 15, 2019. 

Staff recommends that the Board of Education amend the lease termination date as proposed.

Rationale:

Rationale:

Recommendations in this Human Resources Report are in accordance with Board Regulation 2122, which outlines the functions of the Superintendent including:

A.  Approve and recommend to the Board of Education for employment, all personnel required for administration, supervision, teaching, clerical work, maintenance of buildings, custodial service or any other type of service that may be necessary for the operation of the Alhambra Unified School District. 

B.  Authorize for the assignment, transfer, and placement of all personnel, at their appropriate salary in accordance with current Board salary policies, regulations and actions.  The Superintendent shall also approve and recommend promotion, suspension or dismissal of any employee except himself/herself.

Rationale:

Staff recommends that the Board of Education of the Alhambra Unified School District approve Resolution No. 18-19-10 approving final acceptance of real property purchase described as an approximately 12,574 square foot building located on approximately 14,604 square feet of land located at 701-705 South Electric Avenue, Alhambra, CA, 91803. 

This property is currently owned by Edna L. Mechsner Surviving Trustee of the Martin J. Mechsner and Edna L. Mechsner Revocable Trust agreement dated July 26, 2017.  

On December 12, 2018 the Board of Education approved its option to purchase the property and sent notice to seller.
